Social Philosophy and Ethics
Welcome
Welcome to my personal website. I am a social philosopher with a special interest in ethics, particularly pertaining to issues of physical and mental health. My key interests are thus in medical ethics, social justice and the (inter)subjective experiences of trauma.
Though I live in Germany, I am the Head of the Department of Ethics and Political Philosophy at the Radboud University in the Netherlands. I am also a Professor by Special Appointment in Europe, Humanism and Global Justice. In my passion for philosophy, I am currently focusing on Long Covid and Postviral Ethics, also in the context of the Post Covid Network Netherlands (PCNN), where I lead the Ethics Platform. With a background in critical theory and political trauma, I have contributed extensively to ethical debates on social and political trauma, particularly in non-Western contexts and in contexts of collective mobilisation.
As a social philosopher, I engage extensively with and in public debates through talks, public commentaries as well as academic publications. I also regularly engage in policy advice and recommendations. I am an experienced teacher, public speaker and event organiser. On this website, you can explore my projects, articles and video recordings of talks and delve into social philosophical debates on some of the most pressing ethical issues of our time.

Philosopher, Public Speaker and Advisor
As I continue to develop projects that bring ethics and social philosophy to bear on real-world challenges, researchers, patients, medics, policymakers and other societal stakeholders are invited to get in touch. You can also stay tuned here for upcoming projects and discussions that aim to bring philosophical insights to the forefront of societal discourse.
